Hello, my fellow Berean. I have been talking about Bible Study recently with apps and websites that will help you. Today I want to talk to you about another useful tool. It is a Scripture Journal. Running 2 scripture journals at the samereally allows you to build your own Bible Study tools.
In the last few years, I started a bullet journal. My bullet journal is kind of a dump all. It holds schedules and to-do lists. It even holds Bible Studies.
Eventually, I decided I needed a dedicated Bible Study Journal. A place to keep what I was learning during my personal Bible studies as well as sermon notes. This is the first scripture journal I recommend.
This journal can house just Bible studies, it can house sermon notes or both. You can split the sermon notes and Bible studies into different sections, or just this journal as a dump all. Combining everything into the order you are learning it.
Even with a table of contents, there are verses and topics that may get lost.
This is where the second journal I recommend come in handy. In this journal, you will create a dictionary or concordance of your own. What you will do is create a list of topics that are important to you.
To setup the second journal is as simple as a few steps.
1. You Pick your topics
2. Create an alphabetic list of your chosen topics for your Table of Contents
3. You then label the pages with your topics. So, one set of pages may be grace, another mercy, and even another on prayer.
4. You fill up your second journal, using the notes from your first journal and sermon notes.
If you are a teacher/leader this is a great way to find Bible Verses about topics to add your lesson or sermon.
If you’re an average Berean, this can still be helpful. Say you need a reminder of God's grace or mercy, or you feel stuck praying. You can always go back to your second journal, once again allowing these verses to take up residence in your heart.
By writing the verse more than once it will help lock that verse in your heart.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. - Psalms 119:11 NIV
